Mr. Cochran has a total of 28 years of working experience with the Comptroller of Public Accounts.   His vast experience began in 1976 as an auditor in the Fort Worth Audit Office.  In 1981 he was appointed Manager of the New York Audit Office and in 1982 returned to Dallas as a supervisor in the Dallas East Audit Office.   In 1986 he transferred back to the Fort Worth Audit Office as a supervisor.   In 1993 Mr. Cochran helped develop the Dispute Resolution Program, becoming the first DRO for the audit division, a position he held for 11 years until retirement in 2004.


 

He has extensive knowledge and experience in all taxes administered by the Comptroller.  This includes knowledge of the law, rules and especially policy and procedures.  He authored or co-authored many of the Comptroller's policies and procedures still in use today.  He is also a trained commercial mediator.


 

Mr. Cochran is an avid golfer and snow skier.  He has been, and continues to be, a passionate youth baseball coach for over 20 years.
